Legendary songwriter and musician Guy Clark died in Nashville today after a long battle with illness. He was 74 years old.

Clark first found success as a songwriter, crafting “Desperados Waiting for a Train” in the early 70s, and eventually released his first album, Old No. 1, in 1975.

He went on to record high-quality albums throughout his entire career, all the way up to 2013’s spectacular My Favorite Picture of You.

My personal favorite Clark album is 2009’s Somedays the Song Writes You. I view both “The Guitar” and “Hemingway’s Whiskey” from that record as all-time classics.
