New music! Danny Brown – “When it Rain”

Danny Brown When it Rain

New music from Danny Brown? You know I’m excited!

I’ve been a huge fan of Brown’s since I first heard his breakthrough record, 2011’s XXX, and it’s always an event when he releases something new.

Brown dropped the “When it Rain” yesterday. It’s a frantic, high-energy song about life in Detroit, and the rapper’s flow is as raw and unorthodox as ever.

Dark clouds hanging all over our heads, Brown raps. No sunshine and them shots be lead/ Lining them squares so the dots be red/ Now your best friend gets shot in the head, dead!

The song was even accompanied by a trippy music video courtesy of director Mimi Cave, which you can watch below.

I hope this means the new Brown record is coming sooner than later. Between this and his verse on The Avalanches’ “Frankie Sinatra,” 2016 might just might be remembered as the year Danny Brown took over.
